Like a number of children's cartoons, it was created to promote an existing toy line of the same name. An alternate version was produced in 1994; this altered many of the original characters and locations and added some new faces. This version only aired for a single season before being cancelled.
In the first episode, a university professor named Dr. Paradigm tested his gene-manipulation techniques on Dr. Bolton, a fellow professor, who became an inhuman monstrosity and escaped. Paradigm later kidnapped Bolton's four sons - John, Bobby, Coop and Clint - to transform them into sharks. It like ninja turtle gone sharks. The brothers planned to capture Paradigm so that they could force him to return them to their human selves and expose Paradigm's genetic experiments.
In subsequent episodes, Paradigm began to convince the residents of Fission City that the Street Sharks were vicious, deadly killers who were mutated by their father, Dr. Bolton. The brothers teamed up every episode to stop Paradigm and his deadly Seaviates from transforming the citizens of Fission City into mutants with no free will.

Ok I’ll admit Disney hasn’t been making up to snuff animated movies like they use to. It true there hasn’t been an animated movie like the Lion King. Pocahontas Which I thought was a great movie, now seem disappointing and bleak. Maybe it not far for us to constantly compare everything animated movie that Disney put out to the Lion King because each movie has something different offer to it audience. Like the movie Mulan offer action, Beauty and the Beast show that beauty is only skin deep, The Little Mermaid showed us anything is possible if you put your mind to it. You can still tell me that Disney’s movies are going down the drain, but Disney can make some pretty mean Animated TV series. One of the greatest ones is none other then the stony creatures of the night The Gargoyles.
The come out in 1994 and I was immediately hooked.
The story of the gargoyle starts off in the dark Ages of Scotland. The Gargoyles are mystical that are stone by day and fresh and blood night. There numbers are few and the remaining Gargoyles now live and protect the castle. Although they protect the castle they are feared and hated by the people, and ultimate betrayed. After a major misunderstand and enraged Mage cast as spell that would make the Gargoyles stay in their stony form forever until the castle would rise above the clouds. This would be true if it wasn’t for the man they called Xanatos, a wealthy multibillionaire. He bought the castle and transported the whole structure to Manhattan where he placed it on top of his skyscraper in New York, reviving the Gargoyle. The Gargoyles now found themselves in a new place and in a new time. Try to adjust to there new home with the expectation of their leader Goliath they pick out names: Hudson, Brooklyn, Lexington, Broadway, and Bronx, gain friends like Detective Elisa Masa who reveals that Xanatos revived them to exploit them for his unscrupulous ends. Betrayed again the Gargoyles pledge to help Elisa and protect New York like they protected the castle in the past. This show was off the chain, it have awesome characters, great story, and wicked actions. Disney may have went wrong with something, but this is something they got right.

Fads are things that come and go. Throughout the years there have been many fads and cool new trends that everyone had to follow. I remember pogs the small round things that you stacked then you try to flip them over with your slammer. I remember collect a whole rack of them and had a big book of them, my favorites where the eight ball one and the poison one (they had a skull and cross bones). I even entered a pog tournament but lost, but when pogs lost it appeal to the masses it was never seen again. In about fourth grade the new biggest thing was the digital pet. Giga Pets, Digimon, and Tamagotchi, seem to be everywhere, you walk trough the mall without see some kid’s head down feed, or playing with his or her digital pet. The Pets range from the average cat and dogs to dinosaurs and aliens. My first one was and alien I can remember after three day went crazy after seeing a brand new creature because didn’t know they change after so many days and mine kept on dying so it was surprising. But like all good they must come to an end. Other fads soon followed the Giga Pets yo-yos, oh the dread Furbies, and many others, but there was another fad that hit America like a giant tsunami and that would be anime. No anime made a bigger splash then the anime hit Pokemon.
The show pokemon didn’t start until I was in the sixth grade, I just movie to a new house and flipping through channel and I come across this new show I’ve never seen before and instantly fill in love. In the world of pokemon kid at the age of 10 can choose to travel the world to collect and battle element animals known as pocket monster or Pokemon for short. A person, who collect pokemon are known as trainers. The show starts out with a young inspiring Pokemon trainer from Pallet Town Ash Ketchum. Due to oversleeping from staying up the night before all the started Pokemon were taken and he was left with the cute and electrifying electric mouse Pikachu. Together Ash and Pikachu set out to master the world of Pokemon, along his travel befriends the trainers Misty the red hair water-trainer and Gym leader from Cerulean, and the testosterone-inflated rock-trainer and Gym leader from Pewter City. Ash also runs constantly in to trouble, but you have to make it double when it comes to Team Rocket and evil organization bent on take over the world using Pokemon, Jesse and James along with the talkative Meowth are in constant pursuit of Ash’s Pikachu and any other rare pokeomn they can get their hand on. The show follows the progress of Ash as he try to live out his dream of becoming a Pokemon master.

Over the years there has been many superhero group s that I grow up with the G.I. Joe, Captain Planet, Biker Mice form Mar, Defenders of The Earth, and load of others. What makes up a good superhero team? Well all team need a brain person, someone who can thing on their feet and came up with the plans. Then there is the muscle, which is the person with all the strength and does al the heavy work that requires great feet of strength like moving a large boulder of something. There the techno freak that make all the weapon and cool vehicle that the team needs uses for transportation. The mystic, now the special folk that have all the unique power like have telepathic powers, or some kind of sixth sense. The comic relief, he’s that one character that not really that more of a support then action, normally in the form of some small alien or animal with a big heart that keeps everyone smiling. Of course we can’t forget the Leader; you cannot a good team with a leader. They are the glue that keeps everyone together and it up to them to make the hard decision that nobody else want to make, everything they do is for the good of the team along with the help of the team. Together these characters form an unstoppable force against the forces of evil.
Well there one show that was it all, Thundercats. The story of the Thundercats is a classic superman beginning, in a far away galaxy the planet Thundera was become unstable and is about to blow up. Eight travelers escaped the blast, but on their journey were attack the evil mutants. In a space battle both ship crashes landed on what is called Third-Earth. Now stringed on a strange planet the Thundercats but learn to survive, and from new allies as while as new enemies. The one thing I like about the show is the wide range of characters. There Lion-o the lord of the Thundercat he is the possessor of the mystical Sword of Omen and enchanted Claw Shield, and with the help of his friend he would lead the Thundercat in the against the fight with the evil the inhabit Third-Earth. Other characters includes: Panthro the mechanical wizard and engineering genius, Tygra the cunning warrior that can turn invisible, Cheetara the lighting-speed Thundercat with the sixth sense. The trouble making Twin Willkat and Willkit, and the oh so lovable worrywart Snarf. Together they do battle with Mumm-Ra the Ever living an evil being possessed by the Ancient Spirits of evil and the dreaded mutants. This is another show goings Travis Moore Action Cartoon Hall of Fame.

This show has a special place in my heart. When I was little this was my number 1 show, I would all saw my show and when I missed it I would cry my eyes out. I had all of the coolest toys and the neatest case for them, I love making the little sound that they made when they transformed. Octamus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and bunch load of others all were in my collect until that one dreaded day on the Metro train. My family and I were going to D.C. for some festival and me being about 4 decided to bring all (and I mean ALL) of my transformer to play with on the train (big mistake). The way there wasn’t all that bad but the way back was hectic, everybody and their mamas were trying to get home and taking the Metro. I think you can guess what going to happen next, in the rush of getting off the train I left my bag with the toys in it; you could have seen the water works that day that only thing that was left as a tiny motorcycle transformer. That a day that will forever hunt me and the multitude of bad choices that I’ve made, but it never stopped my love for the show.
Transformer is about a group of robots the noble Autobots and the sinister Decepticons who crash landed in Earth, from the planet Cyberon. Then only to keep their present a secret is by disguising themselves as earth vehicle. Well parentally Earth is a large source of energon which is some kind energy source. The show was a new way of see robot, I mean how cool would it be if the PT Cruiser next to you all of a sudden transformed into a lean mean fighting machine. One thing I found interesting about the show was that the whole time they were on earth the only human contact they had was with a mechanic, and his son and all the battles took place in one place being the desert that they crash landed. Beside the lack of scenery the show was still off the chain and made up for it with story. The hold show was one big struggle between good and evil Octimus Prime and his Autobot each episode after episode must do battle with the Megatron and his sinister Decepticon, it was filled with non-stop robot on robot action, awesome characters like the traitorous Starscream and the loveable Bumblebee. Throughout the years there have been incarnations of the show but none can really compare to the first generation expect for Beast War that was actually a good show, but all other after that sent the Transformers name down the drain.

Post #5 The Pirates of Dark Water

Taking trip back down memory lane (I love that song) there one cartoon that really is a blast from the past and that is The Pirates of Dark Water. This had every thing great story, sweet action, and fascinating character. Unfortunate the series was cancel after only 21 episodes that was a sad day in my life. The show is gone but is not lost it can still be seen the Cartoon Networks’ Boomerang, but I feel that instead of just playing the same 21 episode over and over again they should finish what they started, then I can leave this world happy knowing what happen at the end of the show.
Pirates of Dark Water takes place on a water planet known as Mer. This Planet is slowly be devoured “Dark Water” a black sludge-like thing that consumes everything in its path. The “Dark Water” was disrupted the societal structure of Mer, lugging the world into darkness and anarchy. Ren, the son of King Primus and the heir to the throne of Octopon, set sail with his three companions Nibbler the monkey-bird, Ionz an ex-pirate, and Tula the ecomancer in search of the Thirteen Treasures of Rul. Along their travel they run in countless encounters with the dark water and the pirate Bloth the captain of the dreaded Maelstorm and his band of cutthroats, and thrives, who goal is also to find the treasures of Rul. With jam pack pirate action this show was sample one of the best action cartoons that come out in the 90’s, but some one must have thought other wise or they just didn’t did see the potential of the show cause they put an end to a good show.

Comments

Charla Post #1
Constantinos Post #1
Rawand Post #2
Nghinh Post #3
Kristy Post #4
Bryanne Post #4

Post #4 Teenage Mutate Ninja Turtle

Some times as I’m hanging out with my friends we at time reminisces about all the good show that use to come on TV. We talk about how the kids now of days don’t have the same quality of show we use to have. I mean sure they have the shows with the flashy graphics and new anime look, but while they place a lot focus on how it looks our shows were base on quality. How a show looks maybe important it also has to be able to draw its audience to it. When a show is of good quality and can capture it audience then it stays in the minds of the watchers ever, let’s take the Teenage Mutate Ninja Turtle a show of me childhood.

The ninja turtle is one of the greatest cartoon shows of my time. No one can argue that the story and characters really pulls together to capture the fascination of the audience. Come on, four baby turtle and a rat dropped down in a sewer into a container of ooze which transformed them into the teenage butt-kicking ninja turtle. Because humanity fear thing that are different and wouldn’t except them, the turtle are force to live in the sewer where they were raised and taught the way of the ninja from their master the wise rat Splinter. Who named them after four of the world greatest artist the inquisitive Donatello, the courageous Leonardo, the hot tempered Raphael, and the outrageous Michelangelo. Although they will probably won’t be accepted by mankind they did everything to save those who shun from society from the evil plains of The Shredder (he has such a cool name), the little brain thing, and the deadly Foot clan. Their story to fight for what is right and pizza made a whole generation to fall in love with their adventures.

Post #3 Pinky and The Brain

I’m sure that everyone at one point or another has wondered what it would be like to rule world. The question is what would you with it? Would you create world peace where everyone lived in harmony or would you have everyone be your slave and bowing down to your every command. Either way ruling the world is far off dream. A nearly impossible goal for man, but for a small mouse and his wacky companion the impossible can be come possible.

Pinky and the Brain, two lab mice set out night after night with one thing on their mind and that world domination. I think there no words that can explain the intricate humor of the show. The Brain an ultra intelligent mouse whose only dream it the take control of the Earth comes up with a new harebrain scheme each episode to make his dream a reality. My favorite episode is the one where he planned to take over the world by having everyone in the world hold hand and create a large peace sign; then by sticking them with lighting or something everyone then would be under Brain’s control. Like always Pinky who is the comic relief of the show somehow ends up blowing the whole plans. Who can’t forget the famous last line at the end of the show, “Hey Brain, what are we going to do tomorrow night?’
“Same thing we do every night Pinky…Try to take over the world!!!”

Post #2 Who Framed Roger Rabbit

This is one the best human-cartoon collaboration ever created. The story was creative of blackmail, lost wills, evil villains and it actually funny. I mean the person who came up with the idea of framing a cartoon rabbit of the murder of a top cartoon maker in order to gain possession of Toon World. The part that I really found fascinating was the fact that they cartoons from different studios like Disney, Warner bros, and MGM. They even manage to get the famous voice cast if the characters Mel Blanc (Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, and Porky Pig) and Charles Fleischer (Roger, Greasy, Psycho, and Benny the Cab). The cartooning in this film was absolutely wonderful and that they interacted with the real world perfectly. I frankly think this was way better then Space Jam (which was ok) or Mary Poppins (I hated this movie).

Captain planet was the bomb!! That was the show, it actually made me want to recycle. i was really diggin the whole muticultral team. it was most interest that they leader of the team was black, in most show black characters don't really have leadership roles. Another thing i love were the power wind, fire, water, earth(favorite), I did feel sorry for the little Indian boy because his power was heart and that doesn't really do much; all the good powers were take and he was stuck with the left overs. Anyways they should bring it back and keep the original theme song, because that was pimp.

Travis Moore
